WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – January 21, 2009 -- Homeowners can enjoy the benefits of improved indoor air while doing their part to conserve energy and other resources with the new Green by Electrolux, the first central vacuum system made with recycled resources and built to deliver whole-house cleaning power quietly and with less energy. “Green by Electrolux is completely focused on the environment from the materials that go into it, to the energy required to operate it and to the contributions it makes to a healthier living environment,” says Larry Hartley, vice president of sales and marketing. “It is designed to be the last vacuum the consumer will ever buy.”
Green features of the Green by Electrolux Central Vacuum System include: - Recycled components
- Energy efficiency
- Indoor air quality
- HEPA filtration
- Quiet operation
- Long life
Seventy percent of the Green components, including 95 percent of the system’s plastic parts, are manufactured from recycled materials. It also is built to perform 20 years or longer, three times the life span of a typical upright vacuum. Even then, 75 percent of the system will be recyclable, easing the burden on the waste stream. A unique, flow-through motor delivers 550 air watts of cleaning power, yet it requires 10 percent less electricity to operate than the average for central vacuum systems. As a result, a homeowner using the Green by Electrolux will save enough energy over the life of the system to power a 60-watt light bulb for six months. The reduced energy consumption also will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 450 pounds, about the same amount that a car would emit during a 750-mile trip. “Most importantly, Green by Electrolux improves the indoor air quality of the home by removing contacted dust and allergens from the living area. It helps the home meet the indoor environmental quality standards of the nation’s leading green building programs,“ Hartley adds. Builders will earn five points toward meeting new National Green Building Standards by installing the system in a new home. Green by Electrolux includes a permanent HEPA filtration system, adding further indoor air quality protection. And the system minimizes noise pollution with exclusive technology to assure quiet operation. The Green by Electrolux comes equipped with a complete attachment set that includes an air-powered Active Pickup Brush for use on both hard and carpeted floor surfaces as well as a complete set of ergonomically designed, lighted Premier Tools for cleaning upholstery and other household surfaces. The system’s power unit carries a 15-year warranty. Green by Electrolux is available from nearly 800 Beam Central Vacuum System dealers throughout the U.S. and can be installed in virtually any new or existing home starting at around $1,200.
