Installation Materials

Inlet valves — where you connect your vacuum hose to the piping concealed in your walls. Each inlet can serve approximately 700 feet. (the average home needs three inlets).PVC piping — carries dust and debris to the dirt collection canister. Elbows, joints — used to connect piping.

Low-voltage wiring — turns Beam® power unit on when vacuum hose is plugged into inlet valve. Low voltage wiring wraps around the PVC pipe from the collection canister to the inlets.

KickSweep® is a popular option for customers who want to quickly sweep up debris from hard surfaces such as kitchen, mudroom or bathroom floors. Activated by a toe switch, an automatic dustpan attached by the central vac piping provides the power of the central vacuum to pull swept debris out of the living environment. With KickSweep®, there’s no more stooping to use a dustpan in the kitchen, mudroom or bath. It is typically installed at the base of a kitchen or bath cabinet.

A central vacuum system’s hose and attachments should reach every square foot of a home’s space, floor-to-ceiling. Inlet valves should be placed strategically around the home typically one inlet per every approximate 700 square feet on each level. Inlet openings should be clear of obstructions such as studs, plumbing, wiring, heat ducts, etc. Good locations are centrally located in hallways, or closet walls near doorways but not behind doors or furniture.

Installation is composed of specially designed PVC pipe which is installed prior to the wallboard in new home construction and in existing homes can be run through crawl spaces, closet interiors, and walls that provide access.
